Twelve Hours
Thursday 18th July
Thank you to everyone who came to Twelve Hours, a play about Jane Austen's twelve hour engagement, which was performed in St Lawrence Church.

New Refuse Collection Days
4th July 2019
From 22nd July, the refuse will be collected from Wootton St Lawrence on Tuesdays, instead of Mondays. Please click here for a list of the collection dates for waste, recycling, glass and garden waste.

Further consultation on the Outline Planning Application has started after more work was undertaken on highways and transport to respond to feedback on the initial proposals.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Hampshire County Council have produced a booklet of fact sheets to give an overview of the proposed updates to the Outline Planning Application and to explain where you can find out more about the areas which were of most interest to residents:
•movement in and around Manydown, including highways, public transport, walking and cycling
•heritage and conservation
•biodiversity and ecology
•landscape and open space
•retail impact

We have appointed a New Rector
20th December 2018
The Revd Ben Kautzer, currently Curate at Earley St Nicholas, in the Diocese of Oxford, has been offered and has accepted the post of Rector in this parish. This appointment is subject to statutory checks and clearances before it can be made formal, but we can now look forward to a licensing service, on Monday 29 April at 7.30pm.
Please Clean Up After Your Pet!

Please could you make sure that you clean up any mess that your dog makes on the Church Meadow, paths and roads. A number of families have expressed concern that has been an increase in the amount of dog mess around the village, especially over the last few weeks.

We have a beautiful church in the centre of the village and we would value your ideas for services, groups, etc that we can hold in the church. We are now in the process of appointing a new vicar, so it's a great time to try some new ideas!

The Hampshire Superfast Broadband Team has provided an update of the connection status of properties in Wootton St Lawrence, Whitedown, Upper Wootton and Ibworth to Superfast Broadband.
We understand that some properties on the list of those that can already connect to Superfast Broadband have encountered problems with their connection when engineers have come to install a package. We have been working with Openreach to resolve those problems, so, if you are still having difficulty with the connection to your property, please contact office@wslcommunity.com. We will then inform the Openreach team.
Neighbourhood Plan Consultation Period

We, as local residents, have been invited to comment to the Local Planning Authority (LPA) on the changes that have been made to the Manydown Development Planning Application:
-
Revised access junctions at the north, from the A339, and south, from the B3400 Worting Road, to the new development.
-
Reduction in the height of buildings in sensitive areas around the edge of the Worting Conservation Area.
-
Clarification of the maximum number of homes that will be permitted in the development. The application is for 3,200 homes plus an allowance of 10%, up to a maximum of 3,520 homes.

Reduction in the number of Gypsy and Traveller pitches from nine to five pitches. These pitches will be provided within one permanent residential site and will not include temporary transit sites for travellers passing through the area.
Sheep Worrying in Wootton St Lawrence

Many of the fields around Wootton St Lawrence are grazed by sheep. Sadly, there have recently been several cases of sheep worrying, which have caused injury, distress and death to sheep in the village and local area.
